Help Belmont, Jamaica Build an Abundant and Climate-Resilient Future
Join our $1 Million Campaign to Change Our Climate, Our Neighborhood, Our World
Audacious Ask. Bold Vision.
We have launched a campaign to raise $1M USD to make Montego Bay’s Belmont neighborhood Jamaica’s first climate resilience and community wealth building zone. Our vision for this work emerges from lessons learned after the impact of hurricane Melissa (2025) and the ongoing climate catastrophe currently destroying the planet. We are prototyping and scaling disruptive innovations that produce greater levels of climate resiliency, self-determination, and socio-economic well-being.
Out of Catastrophe, A New Path to the Future
The increasing incidences of climate catastrophe are the result of systems fueled by the exploitation of people and the planet and concentrating profit and power into the hands of a few--to the detriment of the many.
When catastrophe strikes, neighborhoods like Belmont suffer with destroyed homes and compromised infrastructure. Our people are isolated, cut-off, and the last to receive resources critical for relief and recovery.
The values and systems that produce this reality do not serve our best interests. Thus, we propose a new path, one where our future is collectively determined, where people and planet are sacred, where social and economic vitality is not primarily determined by the well-being of each one of us, but rather by the well-being of all of us.
We’re Off To a Good Start!
We have activated local leaders, family members, and our personal and professional networks to support the launch of our work.
❤️ On behalf of the people of Belmont, many thanks to all of you. ❤️
Our Three-Phase Plan
-
Phase 1
Immediate roof repair and emergency shelter for those impacted by Hurricane Melissa.
-
Phase 2
Prototype a climate resilience & community wealth building hub at the neighborhood center.
-
Phase 3
Launch a neighborhood-wide climate resilience & community wealth building zone.
What success will look like.
In the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa, Belmont neighborhood families are resettled in triaged homes and protected from the elements.
A rebuilt Belmont community center that powers, connects, and protects residents during disasters; that serves as a laboratory for our work neighborhood-wide.
We are a ‘climate’ resilient community where prosperity is collectively generated and experienced.
